HUZZAH! Come one, come all to the Comic Con at Prescott Public Library!
Local lovers of comics, graphic novels, fantasy, and science fiction no longer have to travel to indulge in their interest: Comic Con is coming to Prescott.
The Prescott Public Library will host Comic Con – an event to celebrate comics and cosplay (think: character costumes) – on Saturday, Sept. 30.
The event will mimic Comic Con International, which has been going on in San Diego since about 1970, and has spread to cities and communities all over the country.
The day begins at 9:30, with Mike Rogers, an animator and director at Nickelodeon, who will present Animation Appreciation, including techniques and devices used by animation studios to produce high-quality cartoons and stories. That presentation will take place in the library’s Founders Suites.
Other activities include:
11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Let the Con begin – including professionals and merchants, who will answer questions and display their wares, also in the Founders Suites.
Noon to 2 p.m. – Balloon artist and magician Cody Williams, performing throughout the building.
Noon to 1 p.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. – Janimal will be doing cartoon technique demonstrations for the kids in the James Room.
Noon to 3 p.m. – The Friends of the Prescott Public Library will be serving free popcorn.
Those who attend can expect to see plenty of other costumed figures as well.
The event is free to the public. The Prescott Public Library is located in downtown Prescott at: 215 E. Goodwin St
